Which bank details do you need to transfer money on the internet?

My friend needs to pay money into my account and I need to send her my details but I don't know which details to send!

Account number...sorting code...those kind of things?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!|||This depends on how she is delivering the money to your account. If she is sending it from the internet, as your questions says, then she is probably doing it via internet bill pay. If that is the case she should just need to put you as payee, indicate your account number, and send it to your bank's address.

However, if she wants to get it to your account the same day, she will be initiating a wire transfer from her bank. In that case she will need your account number, the routing number (9 digit number preceding your acct number on a check), how the account is titled (your full name on acct) and probably your address. Hope this helps.|||ghouly05 - the account number is on the front of your credit/debit card, are you suggesting that banks flagrantly allow people to jeapordise their security by displaying it? I think not. You could give your account number to a hardened criminal, not least a friend, and be perfectly safe.

|||Friend or not, I don't think I would be giving her my account number. Why don't you just have her write a check to you, or give you cash, and deposit it in the bank yourself. That would be the best way for you.
