What happens with the microchip details when a dog changes owners.?
I am about to own a dog that has been microchipped by its current owners. I will then relocate dog to my area and change vets. What happens to details stored on microchip???? Can its details be transferred to new owner.|||The only information stored on the chip is the chip number itself, and this does not ever change. The chip is registered in a database with the owner's information, and you will have to call the chip company to change the registration to your own information. There's a small, one-time fee for this.|||The owners should have the necessary paper work with the phone number and the dogs microchip number, its just a case of calling to update the information stored for the dogs micro chipped number, May i also say get a coller with your details on for the dog with the words i am micochipped as they arent alway easy to detect, there for if the dog is lost the will know to keep scanning the dog until the chip is found ,|||Nothing will happen to the microchip information unless you call the company and request it be changed. You may be charged a registration fee, but it's usually very small. Ask the current family to provide you with the microchip information so that you can change his registration.|||Yes, you will need to get the company who hosts the microchip from the other owner. Then you can call them and change the info. Sometimes there is a small charge, but generally $10 or less.|||Yes you need to get the info off the current owner ring up and give your details and there is usually a fee it was 拢15 with petlog when we got out dtaff of a friend :) good luck|||you call the company that u had them chipped and let them know they have been adopted!
