What happens with the microchip details when a dog changes owners.?

I am about to own a dog that has been microchipped by its current owners. I will then relocate dog to my area and change vets. What happens to details stored on microchip???? Can its details be transferred to new owner.|||The only information stored on the chip is the chip number itself, and this does not ever change. The chip is registered in a database with the owner's information, and you will have to call the chip company to change the registration to your own information.
