PLEASE HELP, I really need to know; How do I transfer a Word Doc from Vista to to a older version, see details

I have a Word Document that was written on a Computer that has the newest Vista. The document was saved on a memory key and I can't upload the Document onto my old Laptop. What do I need to do, it is very important. PLEASE HELP!!!

:||||One thing you can do is:

If you have access to the Vista computer:

1. Open the file.

2. Click "File" then "Save As"

3. Under where you can manually enter the filename, there should be a drop down click thingy. Click it.

4. Select Word 97-2003 Document.

5. Hit "Save"

6. Put the new document on your memory key and transfer it to the laptop.

If you do not have access to the Vista computer:

1. Go here "http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta鈥?br>

2. Download the Microsoft Compatibility Pack

3. It should guide you through the steps to install.

4. This will give your Office 2003 software the capability to open Office 2007 Powerpoint documents, Word Documents, and Excel Documents.

5. Open the document as you normally would.|||does your laptop have microsoft word on it ?

the operating system shouldn't make a difference to a word document its a different program|||xp won't support any vista at all.|||Go to the file, right-click it, and choose Properties. Change the compatibity to your laptop's operating system.|||In this case it's not the version of windows that matters but the version of micrsoft office. If you are using office 2007 there is a free Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats. It basicaly allows you to open documents created from using 2007 in other versions of office

You can download it here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai鈥?/a>|||To make your Word documents more portable to different verisons of Word or different word processors simply save them as Rich Text. All word processors are able to read that Standard Document Format.

All your basic formatting and styles should be preserved as well. Microsoft Word format is not downward compatible. Rich Text is your ticket!|||I assume you used M$-Office 2007, so, use the File %26gt; Save as... option to save the file in a format (try rich text format, as an example) that your old version of Word (2003?) can read.|||buy a memory stick(sometimes called a flash pen) insert it into your usb port download you file onto it, take it out and insert it into your laptop and download it ...hope this helps
