My ex boyfriend owes me some money from when we were together, and says he needs my account number and sort code to transfer the money into my account. I'm always wary of giving out bank details and shred all my statements religiously, is it ok to give out these details or are they meant to remain secret? I presume its ok as they are printed on cheques but just wanted to be on the safe side! Cheers! x|||get a cheque off him cus if he sells off your bank account number and sort code you could find you've got no money at all in your account........and are in quite a lot of debt. dunno how much he owes you but it's unlikely to be worth the risk.|||Tell him to send you a cheque. its safer. Cash is even better. recorded delivery.|||Yeh it is fine, he cant do anything with just the sort code and account number.
You have to shred bank statements as they can be used as proof of address for things|||your ex will need these details to transfer the money it is safe|||For a bank transfer, that information is needed.Can you trust him? The obvious, and safest way to do it, is for him to send you a cheque.
