My friend, Swim is moving to another town about 100 miles away. Recently, he was arrested for a small possession of Marijuana. He hasn't heard anything about court yet. What should he expect? I believe he will have to go to court in this county since it happened here but can he transfer probation from one county to another?
They sure are awful about the simplest things in Texas...
Note, please make sure your answer is based on Texas laws.
Thanks.|||I don't know about Texas, specifically, but here, your probation would automatically be set up for whatever county you live in. InterSTATE transfers of supervision is a bit more complicated (though that can be done, too), but supervision within a State, in a different county, should be routine.|||It depends, you left a lot of information out. If your friend is currently on probation, he has to get approval from his probation officer to move and transfer to a different state. Usually this is not a problem at all, unless the crimes forbid it. If he is not on probation, I have never heard of anyone getting probation for a small amount of marijuana. That would over load the probation system, but each state does things different, but they wouldn't in NYS.|||yes with a courts permission
