How can I transfer my files to my new hard drive? (See details)?

I just got a new MacBook for Christmas. My old Dell Inspiron is logged down with all my iTunes songs and my digital photos. To stop them from becoming a problem on my new aptop, I purchased a 250GB external hard drive that is both PC and Mac compatible. So here's my question - what would be the best and most efficient way to get the files I want onto the external hard drive, and would they still work properly with the Mac?|||You might have to convert the files to an extension MAC can read.. Im not real familiar with MAC so thats something yoru gonna need to figure out. But you should be able to just plug in the EHDD and it will pop up in my computer. Just drag your files in it and then plug it into your MAC...
